New Delhi, Sept 28, 2024: AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will soon vacate his official residence on Flagstaff Road in the Civil Lines area of Delhi. Kejriwal, who resigned from the chief ministerial post earlier this month, intends to leave the house during the Navratri festival, which begins in the first week of October, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said in a statement on Saturday.
“Arvind Kejriwal will vacate the CM residence soon and has intensified the search for new accommodation,” the party stated.
The AAP supremo is prioritizing locations near his New Delhi constituency to stay connected with the local community and facilitate easy access for his work, especially with the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections just months away.
Offers Pour in for Kejriwal’s New Residence
According to the AAP, numerous supporters, including party MLAs, councillors, and common citizens, have offered Kejriwal accommodation in various parts of the city. Some have invited him to share their homes, while others have provided vacant properties. Offers have come from areas like Defence Colony, Greater Kailash, Vasant Vihar, and Hauz Khas.
The party emphasized that Kejriwal is searching for a property that is free from legal disputes and allows him to efficiently manage his time and resources. His main goal is to find a home that allows him to remain closely connected to the people of Delhi.
Central Government Accommodation Demanded
The AAP has also demanded that the Central government provide official accommodation for Kejriwal in his capacity as the president of a national political party.
Kejriwal, who lives with his wife, children, and elderly parents, previously resided in the Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad before his political career took off. After becoming Delhi Chief Minister for the first time in 2013, he moved to a bungalow at Tilak Lane in Delhi, and later, in 2015, shifted to the Flagstaff Road residence.
