On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, celebrating the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. In a message to the public, the Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, highlighting his values and timeless teachings on peace, truth, sacrifice, and non-violence.
“Gandhi Jayanti is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the ideals and values of Pujya Bapu,” the Lieutenant Governor said, urging people to embody the principles of non-violence and love for all mankind that Mahatma Gandhi stood for. He recalled Gandhi Ji’s belief in the power of non-violence, asserting that it can be wielded by anyone with faith in the God of Love.
He also emphasized Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to cleanliness, stating, “Through his message and work on cleanliness, Gandhi Ji guided the nation towards swachhta and nation building.” The Lieutenant Governor noted that students in Jammu and Kashmir are drawing inspiration from Gandhi Ji by adopting local water bodies, parks, or heritage sites, conducting cleanliness drives twice a month as part of the state’s commitment to cleanliness and sustainability.
“On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, let us take a pledge to follow the path of truth, sacrifice, non-violence, selfless service, and cooperation,” the Lieutenant Governor said, urging people to promote peace and harmony in society. He called for collective efforts in upholding the values that Mahatma Gandhi cherished and to work towards building a peaceful and harmonious community.
