New Delhi, July 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of national unity in Parliament today, criticizing what he called “negative politics” and the misuse of legislative platforms by opposition parties.
Ahead of the upcoming Union Budget presentation, Modi asserted that Parliament’s purpose transcends party interests, urging MPs to prioritize national welfare over partisan agendas. He emphasized that the recent elections have given a clear mandate, and it is now crucial for all political factions to collaborate for the country’s progress over the next five years.
“In January, 2029, when it will be an election year, then you can go into the poll field, even make use of Parliament for it. Play the games you want to for those six months but till then, work for empowering the poor, farmers, youth and women by building a movement of people’s participation to fulfil the dream of 2047,” Modi stated.
Addressing the issue of parliamentary decorum, Modi expressed disappointment over attempts to stifle government voices during crucial sessions. He highlighted the importance of allowing first-time MPs and diverse viewpoints to contribute effectively.
“This Parliament is not for ‘dal’ (party) but for ‘desh’ (country). This Parliament is not limited to MPs but it is for 140 crore people of the country,” Modi affirmed, urging a constructive and positive approach towards governance and development.
The Prime Minister also underscored the significance of the ongoing Monsoon session, marking a pivotal milestone in India’s democratic journey. He emphasized that his government’s policies are geared towards fulfilling promises made to the nation and setting a robust foundation for India’s growth trajectory.
“The budget to be presented will set the direction for our journey over the next five years and lay a strong foundation for achieving our vision of a developed India by 2047,” Modi concluded.
The Monsoon session continues to be a crucial platform for legislative deliberations as the government prepares to unveil its fiscal plans for the upcoming term.
