The National Testing Agency (NTA) has unveiled the final answer keys for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG on Thursday, signaling the impending declaration of results for the delayed undergraduate admission examination.
Initially, the provisional answer keys for CUET-UG 2024 were released by NTA on July 7. Following this, a retest was conducted on July 19 for more than 1,000 candidates whose grievances were validated by the agency.
A senior official confirmed, “The final answer key has been released and the result will be declared soon.”
The delay in CUET-UG results has been amidst controversies over alleged irregularities in various competitive exams, including NEET-UG and UGC-NET. Originally scheduled for June 30, the CUET-UG results were postponed as NTA grappled with issues related to paper leaks involving other examinations.
The CUET-UG examination, held for the first time in a hybrid mode across the country, faced cancellation in Delhi a day prior to the scheduled date due to logistical reasons. Subsequently, the exam was successfully conducted in the national capital.
NTA had earlier announced that CUET-UG’s third edition would be completed within seven days without score normalization, conducting all exams in a single shift. The exam covered 15 subjects in pen-paper mode and 48 subjects in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, with over 13.4 lakh candidates registering for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 universities nationwide.
In the 2022 edition, CUET-UG encountered technical glitches and had to normalize scores due to multiple shifts in subject tests.
Meanwhile, in a significant development concerning NEET-UG 2024, the Supreme Court recently dismissed pleas seeking its cancellation and re-test, citing insufficient evidence to support claims of systemic breaches compromising the exam’s integrity.
The verdict provided relief to the NDA government and NTA amid widespread criticism and protests regarding alleged malpractices during NEET-UG 2024.
The release of CUET-UG results is anticipated to provide clarity and closure to aspirants awaiting admission to esteemed universities across India.
