On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in the Khour area, enhancing sports infrastructure in the border regions of the Union Territory. This significant event aims to provide modern, accessible, and inclusive sports facilities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the inauguration, Satish Sharma emphasized the government’s earnest commitment to fostering a robust sports culture in the region. He stated, “We are focusing on the rural and border belts to ensure young people engage in sports, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle.” The Minister highlighted that the development of quality sports infrastructure plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent.
“Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to a lack of facilities,” Sharma added, showcasing the government’s determination to develop sports infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated indoor sports hall features world-class facilities under one roof. It has been designed to accommodate multiple sports simultaneously, offering three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, and two judo courts, along with two wrestling and kabaddi courts. This comprehensive training environment meets the needs of athletes across various sports disciplines.
