On the birth anniversary of the revered nationalist leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, affectionately known as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes across Jammu and Kashmir today. This event highlighted his invaluable contribution to national integration and unification of Jammu and Kashmir with India.
The commemoration occurred in Srinagar, where BJP National General Secretary and In-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Tarun Chugh, alongside senior leaders, garlanded Pt. Dogra’s portrait at the party office. Prominent attendees included Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, and Anwar Khan, who also offered floral tributes.

Chugh noted that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi government fulfilled Pt. Dogra’s lifelong vision, which he termed “the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity.”

This movement was pivotal in advocating for the complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir into India. He affirmed, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul reflected on Pt. Dogra’s moral integrity, stating that his determination in leading the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement paved the way for abolishing the separate post of Prime Minister in J&K. Koul’s remarks underscored the importance of Pt. Dogra’s leadership during transformative times.
In Jammu, BJP leaders including MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria, participated in a Hawan ceremony and offered floral tributes at Dogra Chowk.
