BJP MLA Raja Singh Appeals to Hyderabad Police to Curb Unruly Behavior During Ganesh Idol Immersion

In a proactive move to ensure a respectful and orderly conclusion to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, BJP MLA Raja Singh has urged Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand to implement stringent measures to prevent inappropriate behavior during the Ganesh idol immersion on September 17.

In a formal letter addressed to Commissioner Anand, Raja Singh, who represents the Goshamahal constituency, highlighted concerns over certain individuals causing disturbances during the immersion processions. He noted that in recent years, there have been incidents where people with “malicious intent” have joined the processions, engaging in disruptive activities that mar the sanctity of the festival.

Key Concerns Raised:

Alcohol Consumption and Public Disturbance: Raja Singh reported that individuals, often positioned on trucks or tuskers, have been observed drinking alcohol openly during the processions. This behavior not only violates public decency but also contributes to a chaotic atmosphere.
Harassment of Women: The MLA expressed particular concern over the harassment of women and girls, who have been targeted by individuals throwing water packets and engaging in other inappropriate actions. This harassment undermines the festival’s spiritual significance and creates an unsafe environment for participants.
Call for Action: Raja Singh has called upon the Hyderabad police to take proactive steps to curb these behaviors and maintain the decorum of the celebrations. He urged the Commissioner to ensure strict enforcement of laws and regulations to prevent such disruptions and protect the dignity of the festival and its participants.

Festival Context: The immersion of Ganesh idols marks the end of the nine-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival, a significant event celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across the city. The immersion processions are a vibrant expression of faith and community spirit, making it essential to uphold the respectful and sacred nature of the event.

Police Response: The Hyderabad Police Department is expected to review Raja Singh’s concerns and implement necessary measures to ensure a smooth and respectful conclusion to the festival. Efforts will likely include increased patrolling, monitoring of processions, and public awareness campaigns to discourage disruptive behavior.

As the city prepares for the final celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, all eyes will be on the authorities to uphold the spirit of the festival and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
