BJP STAGES A HISTORIC COMEBACK IN DELHI, ENDING AAP’S 10-YEAR RULE

In a landmark victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to make a thumping comeback in Delhi after more than 26 years, sweeping away the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections. As per the latest counting trends on the Election Commission website, BJP has secured a commanding lead in 48 seats, while AAP trails with 22 seats in the 70-member assembly.

This decisive win not only signals BJP’s resurgence in the national capital but also extends its saffron footprint across the country, further consolidating its electoral dominance.

KEJRIWAL STARES AT DEFEAT, AAP STRUGGLES TO HOLD GROUND

The AAP faced a massive setback with its top leaders struggling to secure their constituencies. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, contesting from the New Delhi seat, found himself in a tug-of-war battle, trailing BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh by over 1,170 votes after nine rounds of counting. Meanwhile, his former deputy, Manish Sisodia, conceded defeat in Jangpura.

The Congress, once a dominant force in Delhi under the late Sheila Dikshit, failed to win a single seat, marking yet another electoral wipeout in the national capital.

BIG ISSUES THAT SHAPED THE ELECTIONS

The high-voltage campaign revolved around key local and governance issues. BJP’s strategy to highlight Kejriwal’s lavish residence expenses (‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy) and corruption allegations in the excise policy scandal seemed to have resonated strongly with voters.

AAP, on the other hand, defended itself by claiming it was being “stifled” by the Lieutenant Governor and the Central Government. However, this narrative did not seem to garner the public support it had hoped for.

BJP CELEBRATES, CONGRESS AND AAP LEFT IN CRISIS

At BJP headquarters, celebrations erupted as workers danced to drumbeats, waved saffron flags, and chanted slogans in praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi declared, “The people have trusted the vision of PM Modi. They have chosen development over corruption.”

In contrast, AAP headquarters were in turmoil as party leaders huddled in emergency meetings, contemplating their next move. The Congress office remained largely deserted, marking the continued decline of the once-powerful party in Delhi.

WHAT’S NEXT? BJP TO PICK DELHI’S NEXT CHIEF MINISTER

While the BJP has secured a decisive victory, the party has yet to announce who will take over as Delhi’s new Chief Minister. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva confirmed that the Central leadership will decide on the CM candidate soon.

“The people have chosen BJP for a strong, stable, and development-driven government. We will work towards a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Delhi under PM Modi’s leadership,” he stated.

DELHI MOVES INTO A NEW POLITICAL ERA

As Delhi transitions into a new phase under BJP rule, all eyes will be on the new governance model and how it tackles the pressing issues of pollution, infrastructure, and urban development. Will BJP be able to deliver on its promises, or will the tide turn again in the future? Only time will tell.
