Crime Branch Kashmir Conducts House Searches in Srinagar

The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir undertook significant house searches across five locations in central Kashmir’s Srinagar and Budgam districts. This operation took place on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into a cheating case, according to officials.

Officials from the Crime Branch Kashmir confirmed in a statement, “The Special Crime Wing, Srinagar, is executing house searches at five locations in District Srinagar and Budgam related to an investigation following a case registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Srinagar. This pertains to allegations of cheating.”

The investigation arose from a complaint alleging that the complainant fell victim to fraud involving the false sale of land. The complainant had allegedly received land documents, believed to be legitimate, and subsequently, paid substantial sums, amounting to lakhs of rupees. Investigations revealed that the land in question did not belong to the sellers, a fact corroborated during the enquiry.

In light of these developments, the Crime Branch emphasized, “House searches are underway, and further investigation is in progress.” This operation highlights the continued efforts by authorities to combat fraudulent land deals in the region and protect citizens from financial deceit.
