The Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals in the Kapashera area on Friday. The arrests came after a tense encounter that highlighted the ongoing battle against gangsters with international links.
Officials identified the suspects as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, both from Rajasthan. Rajput, accused of multiple extortion and kidnapping cases throughout Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, had a ₹20,000 bounty placed on his head by Rajasthan Police.
Investigations reveal that Rajput significantly contributed to organized crime networks. He participated in the July 2022 firing outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, orchestrated by gangster Daler Kotia. Furthermore, Rajput is implicated in a July 2025 abduction in Gujarat, where a ₹100 crore ransom was demanded by fellow gangster Kirit Singh Jhala.
According to police sources, Jhala recently allied himself with notorious gangsters such as Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan. This connection signals a growing collaboration between local and international criminal networks.
Mahipal, who had been previously arrested in connection with the Karnal firing incident but later released on bail, rejoined the criminal landscape as a participant in the same syndicate.
During the encounter, Rajput sustained a bullet injury in the lower body before authorities managed to subdue him. He received immediate medical attention at a nearby hospital, and further investigations are currently in progress to dismantle the network.
This crackdown highlights the Delhi Police’s commitment to tackling organized crime and their efforts to counteract the influence of foreign-based gangsters in the region. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities linked to organized crime.
