Doda Police Crack Motorcycle Theft Case Within 48 Hours

Doda, November 08, 2025: Doda Police cracked a motorcycle theft case within 48 hours, arresting two individuals and recovering the stolen vehicle. This prompt action highlights the police department’s commitment to public safety.

On November 5, 2025, Omair Ullah Wani reported that his motorcycle (registration number JK06A-6107) had been stolen from the Jathi area. Police Station Assar quickly registered an FIR under Section 302(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Responding to the complaint, SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) directed a special team led by PSI Shivam Dev Singh. Under the supervision of DySP DAR Doda and SHO Police Station Assar, investigators launched a comprehensive inquiry.

On November 6, after analyzing crucial leads, police detained two suspects. During intensive questioning, both confessed to the theft. The stolen motorcycle was recovered from their possession.

The arrested suspects have been identified as:

  • Mohd Tariq @ Baffer, a habitual offender from Bhagtha, Katra, District Reasi.
  • Munish Kumar, a resident of Bali Chanalra Bhalesa, District Doda.

Authorities discovered that Mohd Tariq is an absconder with numerous pending cases spanning several districts in Jammu and Kashmir and neighboring states. He faced allegations of various crimes, including theft and drug-related offenses.

A thorough background check revealed that Tariq had multiple FIRs registered against him. His criminal history includes:

  • FIR No. 259/2013 P/S Katra
  • FIR No. 59/2016 P/S Chennani
  • FIR No. 132/2016 P/S Katra
  • Numerous others across different districts, summing up to 18 FIRs.

Despite his consistent evasion of law enforcement, the latest breakthrough exemplifies the unwavering dedication of Doda Police in ensuring community safety and capturing repeat offenders.

Additionally, the court had issued a general warrant of arrest for Mohd Tariq under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code, emphasizing the criminal’s long-standing issues with the law.

SSP Mehta expressed confidence in the department’s capabilities, stating, “Doda Police remains committed to tackling repeat offenders. Our swift investigations and responsive actions aim to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.”

The successful resolution of this case reinforces the police’s proactive approach and fosters trust within the community. Police officials remain resolute in their mission to mitigate crime and maintain order, further highlighting their resolve in protecting public safety in the Doda district.
