Massive celebrations erupted across the Jammu region on Sunday evening after India clinched a thrilling five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final held in Dubai. The win marked India’s third consecutive Asia Cup triumph against Pakistan, further cementing its dominance in regional cricket.
The contest witnessed high drama as India faced early setbacks. Pacers Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi dismissed Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav cheaply, leaving the Men in Blue in a precarious position. However, a resilient partnership between Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube turned the tide, their composed batting stabilizing India’s innings and setting the stage for a memorable chase.
Varma’s classy strokeplay, coupled with Dube’s power-hitting, proved to be decisive, facilitating a hard-fought yet confident win for India. As the winning shot was struck, the streets across Jammu city and adjoining towns came alive with joy.
Fans waved the Tricolour, shouted slogans of “India-India”, lit firecrackers, and danced to the beat of dhols. Markets, residential colonies, and chowks became venues for jubilant gatherings, transforming the night into a celebration of cricket fever.
“In the beginning, we were nervous after losing three early wickets, but Tilak Varma’s innings was simply brilliant and Dube supported him well. We are proud of our team,” said a cricket fan in Jammu.
Another supporter added, “It feels like Diwali has come early! India is the strongest team in the world right now, and no one can beat us when we play like this.”
Earlier, India’s bowlers set the stage for success with a disciplined performance, restricting Pakistan to a modest total. The controlled attack throughout the innings kept the target within reach, despite the early hiccups in India’s chase.
This emphatic victory not only secured India another Asia Cup trophy but also reinforced its status as a powerhouse in world cricket. The triumph sparked a wave of nationwide pride and jubilation that resonated well beyond the borders of Jammu, showcasing the unifying power of sports.
