Inter-School Competitions Kick Off with Enthusiasm in Poonch

Today marked the commencement of the Inter-School competition in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Chess, and Badminton at Shaheed Manjeet Singh Memorial Boys Higher Secondary School in Poonch, with the Zonal level competitions for boys under the age of 17 starting amidst great enthusiasm.

The opening ceremony was graced by Mool Raj Uttam, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, who served as the chief guest, and Rupinder Kour, Principal of the school, who was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries included Sarfraz Ahmed, Vice Principal, Narinder Singh, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) for Poonch, and Pawan Kumar.

Approximately 300 boys participated in the competition, part of the activity calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir. Narinder Singh, ZPEO Poonch, welcomed the gathering and provided detailed information about the event.

In the day’s highlights:

Kabaddi: High School Degwar Terwan emerged as the overall winner, defeating High School Banwat.
Kho-Kho: Nanak Academy claimed the victory, with Government High School Ajote finishing as runners-up.
Volleyball: Nanak Academy secured the championship title, while Government Boys Higher Secondary School Poonch stood as the runner-up.
Chess: Nanak Academy dominated the competition, securing the top position, with Government High School Purani Poonch as the runner-up.
Badminton: Christ School Poonch emerged victorious, with Boys Higher Secondary School Poonch finishing as the runner-up.
The competitions showcased the budding talent of young athletes in Poonch across various sports, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship.

The event concluded with a spirit of camaraderie and determination among the participants, setting a promising tone for future sports activities in the region.
