J&K’s CM Omar Abdullah Surveys Flood-Hit Kathua Areas

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Kathua district on Thursday, engaging with residents who suffered substantial losses during the recent calamity. This visit comes in the wake of devastating flash floods that ravished many villages, leaving families in dire straits.

During his aerial inspection, Abdullah directly interacted with residents from Duggain village, where numerous houses sustained severe damage. He expressed his sympathy for those who lost their homes and assured them of immediate and long-term support from the government.

Following the survey, Abdullah convened a meeting with senior district administration officials. He emphasized the importance of rapid relief efforts, directing the team to mobilize resources and provide necessary assistance to affected families. “We cannot leave our citizens in distress during these trying times. Every possible support will be extended to help those impacted by this tragedy,” Abdullah stated.

The Chief Minister’s proactive approach aims not only to address immediate concerns but also to strengthen the recovery process for families grappling with the aftermath of the disaster. The government plans to expedite relief efforts, including financial aid and temporary housing solutions, for the victims.

In a subsequent statement posted on X, Abdullah confirmed that he would visit the Mahore area of Reasi district in the coming days to assess further damage caused by the flash floods. His commitment reflects the administration’s dedication to ensuring comprehensive relief across all affected regions.

Currently, Kathua district stands at the forefront of recovery efforts, as its communities rally together to support one another. Local leaders and residents are collaborating with the administration to address pressing needs such as clean water, shelter, and nutrition.

As flood recovery progresses, the Chief Minister’s office continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that assistance reaches all necessary areas promptly. Abdullah’s on-ground assessments play a crucial role in tailoring the response strategy to the unique challenges posed by the floods.
