NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli, India’s cricketing icon, has called upon the nation to rally behind its Olympic-bound athletes, urging fans to unite in their support as they strive for podium finishes at the upcoming quadrennial event starting July 26 in Paris.
In a video posted on social media lasting just over a minute, Kohli featured alongside athletes bound for Paris, including javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and boxing prospect Nishant Dev. He emphasized India’s evolution from being stereotyped as a land of snake charmers and elephants to now being recognized globally as the largest democracy and a tech powerhouse.
Kohli underscored the significance of India emerging as a formidable force in global sports and encouraged everyone to back the athletes in their pursuit of glory on the international stage.
