Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Chairs Meeting to Prepare for Independence Day Celebrations

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a crucial meeting today with Deputy Commissioners and senior officials from civil and police administration to review preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the need for seamless and well-organized Independence Day events, directing district administrations and line departments to ensure meticulous planning and coordination. He stressed on the active involvement of all stakeholders in honoring freedom fighters, unsung heroes, and martyrs.

Key directives from Lt Governor Sinha included the organization of ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ from August 1 to August 14, aimed at promoting cleanliness initiatives across the UT. Additionally, he called for the launch of a 15-day campaign titled ‘Ek Ped Shaheedo Ke Naam’ (A Tree for Martyrs) at prominent public locations and memorials. This campaign encourages planting trees as a tribute to the martyrs and is envisioned to be a mass movement involving participation from individuals, families, and prominent personalities from various fields.

Attended by senior officials including Advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP RR Swain, and other administrative heads, the meeting highlighted the collective effort required to ensure the success of these initiatives. The Lt Governor urged all departments and stakeholders to work cohesively to facilitate active community participation and ensure the smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations.

The meeting, held both physically and virtually, underscored the significance of commemorating India’s independence with reverence and dedication, aligning with the spirit of national unity and progress.
