NDA Surges Ahead in Bihar Assembly Election Counting

PATNA, Nov 14: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surged ahead in the early trends of the Bihar Assembly election counting. As per the Election Commission, the NDA leads in 166 out of 243 seats, confidently above the majority mark of 122 seats.

The opposition INDIA bloc trails significantly, showing leads in only 59 seats. Election officials caution that these figures may shift as several rounds of counting are still pending.

Within the NDA coalition, the BJP leads in 72 seats, while its partners—the JD(U)—follow closely with 71 seats. Other NDA constituents like LJP (RV) managed to gain a foothold with 18 seats, HAM(S) with four, and the RLM with one seat.

On the other hand, the INDIA bloc struggles to maintain its foothold, with the RJD leading in 43 seats and Congress in only eight seats. Additional results show CPI(ML)-Liberation leading in six seats, while both CPI and CPI(M) secure one seat each as of now.

The state’s political landscape shifted as early trends revealed significant leads and losses among various parties. The Jan Suraaj Party led by Prashant Kishor and Mukesh Sahani’s VIP currently trail in all the constituencies they contested.

Among notable candidates, RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav faces an uphill battle, trailing in Chhapra. Conversely, BJP’s Maithili Thakur leads in the Alinagar constituency, showcasing strong support. Meanwhile, Osama Shahab of the RJD holds a lead in Ragunathpur, while JD(U) minister Leshi Singh maintains an edge in Dhamdaha.

INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav, holds a lead in Raghopur, as he seeks to galvanize support for his party. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary (Tarapur) and Vijay Kumar Sinha (Lakhisarai) also exhibit promising leads, indicating a tough contest for the opposition.

In Mahua, however, Tej Pratap Yadav finds himself in a challenging position at fourth place, with LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leading the constituency. This unexpected result signifies a potential shift in voter sentiment as the counting progresses.

As the counting unfolds, political analysts observe that the dynamics in Bihar could pivot dramatically. The Election Commission continues to release updates, keeping the public engaged as results flow in. Stakeholders await further insights into voter preferences as the NDA seemingly consolidates its position in this pivotal election.
