“No Double Standards” on terrorism: PM Modi at SCO Summit in China

CHINA, SEPT 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday delivered a strong message against terrorism at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, declaring that double standards on the issue are unacceptable and urging member nations to unite in the global fight against the menace.

Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed at least 26 lives in April, PM Modi said it was an open challenge to all nations that believe in humanity. He added that India, a long-standing victim of terrorism, has faced its worst manifestations in recent years.

“I express gratitude to the nations who stood with us against terrorism,” PM Modi said, stressing that the world must raise its voice in unison. “Double standards in this regard are unacceptable. We must oppose terrorism in every form and colour. This is a duty towards humanity.”

Underscoring India’s policy of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism, PM Modi said the foundation of a peaceful and prosperous region rests on three pillars — security, connectivity, and opportunity.

“Terrorism and separatism pose grave challenges to development. No country or society is safe in its clutches,” the Prime Minister warned. “Therefore, India emphasizes unity against terrorism.”

He also highlighted India’s firm response following the Pahalgam bloodshed, noting that Operation Sindoor was launched to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).
