Srinagar, Oct 16: Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister-designate of Jammu and Kashmir, paid tribute to his grandfather and National Conference founder, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, on Wednesday ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.
Dressed in a traditional Pathani suit and coat, the 54-year-old Abdullah offered floral tributes at Sheikh Abdullah’s mausoleum in Hazratbal.
A National Conference spokesperson stated, “Omar Abdullah paid respects at his grandfather’s grave ahead of taking oath as the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.”
The swearing-in ceremony, where Abdullah and his ministers will take the oath of office and secrecy, is scheduled for 11:30 am and will be administered by J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
