Amritsar, September 17 — In a recent incident along the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab, a Pakistani intruder was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, as confirmed by a BSF spokesperson on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 9:15 pm on Monday in the Ratankhurd village area of Amritsar district. According to the spokesperson, the man was detected after he crossed the international boundary and advanced towards the border fence. Despite being challenged by the troops, the intruder did not halt his approach and displayed aggressive behavior.
In response to the perceived threat, the BSF troops opened fire, neutralizing the intruder on the spot. The deceased was found in possession of Pakistani currency totaling Rs 270 and a partially torn Rs 10 note.
Following the incident, the body has been transferred to the Gharinda police station for further investigation and processing. The BSF is responsible for securing the 553-kilometer stretch of the international border with Pakistan in Punjab.
This event underscores the ongoing vigilance of the BSF in maintaining border security and preventing unauthorized crossings.
