Rahul Gandhi Slams Election Commission Over Vote Theft Claims

Rahul Gandhi’s Charge Against Election Commission

NEW DELHI, Sept 19: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified his campaign against alleged vote theft in India, accusing the Election Commission of complicity. He slammed the Commission as merely an “election watchman” who “stayed awake, watched the theft, and protected the thieves.” This came just a day after he accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of shielding those involved in actions that undermine democracy.

Allegations of Systematic Vote Manipulation

In making his case, Gandhi presented data from the Karnataka assembly constituency, asserting that votes from Congress supporters were systematically deleted. “The same system is doing this,” he claimed, linking the issue to alleged voter deletions in multiple states, including Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. “Our demand is clear: Gyanesh Kumar, do your job,” he added.

Responses from the Election Commission

Reacting to Gandhi’s claims, the Election Commission described the allegations as “incorrect and baseless.” They emphasized that no voter deletions can occur online, as alleged by Gandhi. This was part of a wider rebuttal to the accusations and an attempt to maintain its integrity amidst the unfolding controversy.

Voter Deletions in Karnataka and Beyond

To support his assertion, Gandhi cited specific instances, including 6,018 votes allegedly targeted for deletion in Karnataka’s Aland constituency leading to the 2023 assembly polls. He also referenced over 6,850 fraudulent voter additions in Maharashtra’s Rajura constituency, bringing more attention to the purported widespread misconduct.

“The nation’s youth, the nation’s students, the nation’s Gen Z, will defend the Constitution and protect democracy,” he said during his press conference. Gandhi called for immediate transparency from the Election Commission, urging them to halt their complacency concerning vote theft.

Call to Action from Congress Leader

Gandhi is not just making accusations; he is also demanding action. He wants the Election Commission to provide requested evidence to the Karnataka CID regarding the investigations into these alleged voter deletions within a week. Failure to do so, he warned, will indicate complicity in destroying the Constitution itself.

As the political landscape heats up with the approach of upcoming elections, the accusations highlight significant concerns regarding electoral integrity and citizen trust in democratic processes. As Gandhi himself noted, this is not the last we’ll hear on this issue, referring to “hydrogen bomb” revelations still to come.

Voter fraud allegations can undermine elections, create distrust among voters, and potentially shift the outcome of critical races. As these events unfold, it is essential for citizens to stay informed and engaged to help protect the sanctity of their democratic rights.
