A senior officer of the Border Security Force (BSF) confirmed on Saturday that terrorists are poised at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), preparing to infiltrate the Kashmir valley. Inspector General (IG), BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, reported that security forces remain vigilant to counter these infiltration attempts.
Yadav spoke to reporters in Kashmir, indicating an increase in infiltration efforts expected in the lead-up to winter. “We often witness attempts to breach our borders before the onset of snowfall. There are still two months remaining, and terrorists will likely try to infiltrate until November, aware that their chances will significantly decrease afterward,” he stated.
He elaborated that terrorists target vulnerable moments, citing their presence on launch pads opposite critical areas in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. “The individuals waiting at these launch pads look for opportunities to infiltrate, particularly during periods of adverse weather,” Yadav added.
The IG observed that despite these clear threats, security forces maintain heightened alertness. He noted, “The Army and BSF are consistently monitoring the LoC, leveraging advanced surveillance technology. We remain dominant in these areas.”
In 2023 alone, security forces successfully repelled two infiltration attempts, showcasing their operational readiness. Yadav asserted that stringent vigilance and the utilization of modern equipment have made it exceedingly difficult for terrorists to traverse the LoC undetected.
“The alertness with which our forces execute their duties makes infiltration into our area of responsibility highly challenging for militants. We are determined to keep the peace and ensure the safety of people in the valley,” added the IG, underscoring the comprehensive strategy employed to secure the region amidst ongoing threats.
As tensions persist and winter approaches, the BSF continues its proactive stance, ensuring a robust defense against any potential infiltration. The public and local communities stand reassured through the ongoing endeavors by security personnel to safeguard the valley.
